Isle of Wight man Daniel Lee died from a mixed overdose of drugs, including MDMA and cocaine, an inquest opening has heard.
Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray opened and adjourned an inquest into the death of the 31-year-old, of Prospect Road in Shanklin, at the Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court on Monday (1st September).
It was heard at Monday’s hearing that the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service was called to Sibden Mews, Shanklin on 4th April this year to reports of a male in cardiac arrest.
Paramedics responded, but Mr Lee could not be revived. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 08:53 that morning.
A post-mortem conducted earlier this year revealed a cocktail of drugs in Mr Lee’s system, including MDMA and cocaine. He died from a mixed overdose.
The death was initially investigated by Police, but investigations have now concluded.

So many unnecessary lives are lost due to drugs
and smoking etc.
Life is precious, if only people thought before they
participated in taking such nonsense.
Life is only precious if a person feels they have a life worth living for. None of them get up one morning and say ‘hey, I know what will be a good life choice, I’ll become a drug user’. They do it because it’s an OUTLET to the life they have lived and have to try to endure.
Time for change then, the authorities need to do more
to help such persons.
Whilst it’s devastating for the family who have lost him, remember whose choice it was to pick up the drugs in the first place. We live in a society where addiction is presented as if it wasn’t their choice to start taking drugs.
Used to see this man around a lot and he was never sober. Regardless of your demons, there is always an alternative. This man, as many young men are, always appeared to be a part of the culture rather than a victim of it – see the people he hung around with.
RIP
you obviously didn’t know him that well as he was doing everything he could and needed to get and stay clean!! and seeing him around a lot doesn’t mean you knew him well just means you saw him at his worst! so keep your USED TO comment to yourself you didn’t know him one bit people who knew him knew what his demons were thanks anyways for your unhelpful comment!!
