A main road in Ryde has been closed this evening (Thursday) as a result of a 3-vehicle rear end shunt.
Police, firefighters and paramedics are all on scene at St John’s Hill where a VW Transporter van has smashed into the rear of a Peugeot 207, which has in turn collided into the rear of a Ford Fiesta – all black in colour.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has 2 ambulances and an operational commander on scene with paramedics checking over those involved. Their injuries have been described as minor, whiplash-type injuries.
A wholetime fire crew from Ryde have responded in the interests of safety due to a spillage on the carriageway.
The road has been closed between Great Preston Road and Oakfield High Street with all traffic being diverted locally.
Southern Vectis buses are on diversion with all Routes 3 and 8 diverting via East Hill Road, Esplanade and Dover Street to rejoin the usual route at Star Street.
