A 29-year-old man is being quizzed by Police after he allegedly made threats to kill whilst armed with a knife in Newport yesterday dinnertime (Thursday).
Officers, including the specialist firearms officers from the Island’s Armed Response Team, were deployed to Staplers Road at just before 18:30 yesterday evening.
It followed concerns for the welfare of an individual inside a property. It was thought the man posed a threat to himself or others.
A stand-off situation ensued but after a short time the incident was brought to a safe conclusion. No one was injured.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and affray.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
Probably needs help with mental issues. Needs to be put into care with professional care. Not free to roam the streets. Honestly feel sorry for him and his parents. There are lots more out there that need help.
He is 29 years old, if he has mental health issues, he should have a medical report that confirms this..
However, he could simply be a consequence of a lack of good parenting and schooling that are failing many in our so-called society today…
Or maybe he was sent here by the council housing… from mainland…
I truly hope the IOW Council don’t do this too many times. It seems we have enough head cases doing God knows what to break the law and give our Police officers plenty to do. We don’t want all the drop outs living here on the island causing trouble.
So Is the possibility of being sent over here from the mainland an excuse for his behaviour? Because got forbid anyone born here would ever behave in such a manner!! Lol the island has many of its own idiots…just a thought.
