25-YEAR-OLD ADMITS STEALING BOTTLES OF JACK FROM TESCO IN VENTNOR

A Wroxall man who stole 2 bottles of Jack Daniels from Tesco Express in Ventnor has been ordered to pay compensation of £53. Finley Mulholland, 25, of West Street in Wroxall, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Tuesday). Ann Smout, prosecuting, told the court that on 12th November, at just before 16:00, Mulholland went into the Tesco Store on High Street and picked up 2x bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey making no attempts to pay for them. When interviewed by Police, Mulholland made no comment. The 25-year-old labourer was last in court back in September for possession of cannabis and his last offence of dishonesty was back in 2014. Defending, Michael McGoldrick told the court that his client regrets his actions and that he has voluntarily referred himself to inclusion admitting that alcohol use has become an issue. Magistrates handed Mullholland an £83 fine and ordered him to pay costs of £85, costs of £85, compensation of £53 and a £33 surcharge fee.
