A 24-year-old man has been charged with drink driving after he was stopped by Police in the village of Godshill last night (Saturday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was alerted to an individual possibly driving whilst under the influence at around 21:30.
Officers were deployed to the area and located a male on School Road, near to Godshill Primary School.
He failed a roadside breathalyser and was duly arrested before being taken into custody at Newport Police Station.
At the station, he provided an evidential reading above the legal limit of 35 and was subsequently charged with the offence of drink driving.
24-year-old Alfie Mark Mansfield, of Spinnaker Driver in Portsmouth, will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 5th August.
Well done for catching another dangerous Numpty.
Until these drink driving Numpty’s are locked up
they will never stop.
Immediate 5 or 10 year ban would be great too!,
and immediate crushing of the vehicle.
If the law is tough, they won’t be quick to re-offend
it will also send out a warning to other Numpty drivers
who think it is ok to drink and drive.

I totally agree with your comments (makes a change), but I also feel that the pubs have a part to play in this, if they know someone is getting too pissed they should refuse further drinks, even if they are bought by a third party. It would help to have door staff who monitor the car parks to prevent drunk morons driving home, but they seem to keep being ignored as a part of the problem, instead it is all about the tit who got drunk, despite the fact that we all know the more we drink the less our inhibitions. If stupid people do stupid things then it is surely time for sensible people to get involved.
