22-year-old Harry White has appeared in court – and has been remanded in custody – following a knifepoint robbery in Newport. Police were called at 23:39 on Thursday (18th January) by a man in his 20s reporting he had been threatened by another man armed with a knife. The incident, which took place in St Thomas’ Square, led to the victim’s phone and cash being stolen. Officers attended the town centre location and arrested a man nearby. Now, following enquiries, 22-year-old Harry White, of Holyrood Street in Newport, has been charged with robbery and possession of a knife in a public place. He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday), where he was further remanded to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 19th February.
