Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club saw the installation of their new Club and section Captains for the 2024/25 season last weekend (Sunday 3rd November)
In keeping with tradition, Club Professional, Peter Hammond, invited all three incoming Captains to drive the first fairway and, Ray Winter (Club Captain), Lorrie Hawkins (Ladies’ Captain) and Steve Dingsdale (Senior’s Captain) did so admirably.
Members then took to the course in a hotly contested Am-Am competition.
Taking the honours in the Men’s section, and winning overall with 98 points, were Simon Bligh, Stephen King, Chris Lee and Roger Scott. Winners of the Mixed section were Chris Harvey, Linda Piche and Bob and Jane Wilson with 94 points.
For the Ladies’ the winners were Chrissy Gould, Connie Huntington, Brenda Keyte and Christine O’Brien with 90 points.
During the day, outgoing Ladies’ Captain, Dawn Hodge presented Mountbatten with a cheque for £5,334.13, which had been raised by the Club for the Hospice during her tenure.
