Ventnor paedophile Nicholas Phipps, who was caught in possession of more than 8,000 indecent images of children, has been handed a 20-month prison sentence.
Phipps, 69, of Trinity Road, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court back in February and admitted a number of offences, including 3 charges of possession of indecent images and 2 charges of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The court heard how many more than 8,000 images were found in Phipps’ possession: 558 of Category A, 1,134 of Category B and 7,048 of Category C. The images were discovered by Police in April 2023.
It was said that the 69-year-old breached the Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) in place against him by owning a device capable of accessing the internet and possessing a device capable of storing digital images, which he then did not make available for inspection by Police.
The SHPO was put in place back in June 2017.
The case was deemed too serious to be dealt with by Magistrates and was therefore adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court, where Phipps appeared yesterday (10th April).
At the sentencing hearing, His Honour Judge Bowes KC handed Phipps a 20-month prison sentence.
He was handed a further 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to pay an £187 surcharge fee.
Scum of the day for today, another nonce on our streets, stand by for news of scum of the day for tomorrow
Just seems like an average Isle of Wight male!!! Very backwards
20 months for a paedophile? That poor lady got 20 months for speaking out against the Liebour party! Ridiculous justice system. I’d cut his bits off with a rusty knife!
