Police and ambulance crews have attended a road traffic incident involving 2 motorcyclists on the main Ventnor to Whitwell road this evening (Wednesday).
According to unconfirmed reports, the duo were ‘racing one another’ on the stretch of road running along the South coast of the island. In the process it is said they almost caused serious injury to a male cyclist.
Island Echo understands one of the motorcyclists lost control when he swerved around the aforementioned cyclist before smashing into a bank and ricocheting across the road.
Thankfully no one has been seriously injured in the incident, which caused the road to become blocked for a time. Emergency services were called to the scene sometime before 18:45.
A fuel/oil spill is being cleared from the carriageway.
Earlier this week a motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash in Cowes and a motorcyclist was injured in a separate collision on Whiterails Road near Wootton yesterday (Tuesday).
