2 people have been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody this morning (Saturday) following an incident at The Crown pub in Ryde last night. At around 22:00, Police and paramedics were called to reports of an assault at the public house on St Thomas Square. Officers responded to the scene and soon arrested 2 people in connection with the Friday night incident. Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service tended to those injured, although the injuries sustained are not thought to be serious. The 2 suspects were both taken to Newport Police Station for questioning where they remain at this time. Further details are expected to be released by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in due course. UPDATE @ 10:30 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that an 18-year-old woman from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. A 39-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. Both remain in custody.
