Those travelling across the Solent with Wightlink are facing delays of up to 2 hours today (Thursday) due to a technical issue. It has been confirmed that the Fishbourne-Portsmouth service has been hit by an issue on board one of the car ferries operating on the route. Wightlink says that customers can expect delays of 120 minutes. It is unclear at this time when the undisclosed issue is likely to be resolved and whether disruption will continue into Friday. It’s said that teams are working hard to return to a scheduled timetable. UPDATE @ 09:43 – Wightlink is now advising of 4-hour delays on its Fishbourne-Portsmouth service. Passengers are being urged to check in 2 hours after the original booked sailing time until further notice. It appears that both Victoria of Wight and St Clare – the current and former flagship vessels – are both out of service, leaving the entire operation reliant on the 34-year-old St Faith – a much smaller vessel than other ferries in the fleet. Victoria of Wight is currently moored up at Gunwharf and hasn’t moved in over 24 hours. St Clare is currently moored up on The Hulk, where it has remained since 21:50 last night. UPDATE @ 12:29 – It has been confirmed that the technical issue has now been resolved, with St Clare re-entering service. Delays on the route have now been reduced to 1 hour, with customers now advised to check in for their original booked sailing time as normal.
