2 kayakers in difficulty have been rescued by volunteer lifeboat crewmen at Freshwater this afternoon (Tuesday).
HM Coastguard was tasked to assist the females, located near Freshwater Bay, at just gone 14:10.
Freshwater Independent Lifeboat was quickly launched to go to their aid, locating each casualty before safely landing them on the beach.
Both women were checked over by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams also responded to the incident.
It is the second rescue in as many days at Freshwater. It was on Monday afternoon that 2 kayakers found themselves stranded by the tide at Watcombe Bay. They too were rescued by the volunteers of Freshwater Independent Lifeboat.

“crew’! Yes they all happened to be men today but this is not always the case!
Does it really matter, at least they saved the
damsels in distress.
So the team was made up of men and together formed, erm, a crew, but calling them ‘crewmen’ offends you,Kate? Blimey, no wonder we’re in such a state as a nation.
Soooo the article wording is actually correct then? As they were all crewmen?
And also, why does it even matter? Today the term is widely accepted as gender neutral, even if the crew includes women.
I sit here and shake my head that anyone could even remotely take umbrage with this sort of thing.

Please please please get a grip! Regardless of whether the editor is a misogynist is utterly irrelevant in respect of this article. The crew was made up of all men ergo the term “crewmen” was entirely correct!
What a sad species we have become wasting our precious, limited time on this earth worrying about so many mundane things. How privileged and spoilt so many of us are to think we have the right go through life not being offended.
What a privilege you have not to have to worry about misogyny in the media. Unfortunately for us millions of women, if it isn’t pointed out and actioned it will continue to get worse.
