UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are attending a 2-car road traffic collision at Morton Road in Brading this morning (Monday).
A blue Ford Transit van has collided into the rear of a silver Ford Fiesta, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The incident occurred at around 09:50.
A rapid response paramedic, an ambulance and a local Police unit are on scene and are attending to the female driver of the Fiesta.
Motorists are warned of delays in the area and glass on the carriageway.
UPDATE @ 10:28 – 2 fire appliances from Ryde are now on scene at the request of the ambulance service.
Fire crews are working to extricate the driver of the Fiesta, a lady in her 50s, who is medically trapped.
Morton Road remains open with delays in both directions.
UPDATE @ 10:55 – The casualty has been successfully extricated from the vehicle by means of removing the car’s roof.
She is now being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
