A 15-year-old boy has been arrested, charged and put before the courts accused of attempting to stab another teenager with a large knife.
The incident is said to have occurred in Lake – on the alleyway between the shops and St Urians – at 23:05 on Wednesday night.
The teen, who cannot be identified due to his age, was arrested on Thursday and later charged with 3 offences; attempted wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article and theft.
He was remanded overnight to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
The court heard that the accused is alleged to have stolen £100 of money from the 16-year-old victim, who is known to him. When confronted, the 15-year-old produced a kitchen knife and tried to stab the fellow teen.
Thankfully, the knife did not pierce the skin but did cut through the victim’s coat.
The case has been adjourned until 12th October with the 15-year-old given conditional bail until that time.
It comes in the same week that Police also investigate an incident involving a knife-wielding teen in East Cowes during the early hours of Saturday morning, as previously reported by Island Echo.

It’s about time the police did something rather than just stopping people for speeding before someone gets killed
This 15 year old child, and he is a child has committed a serious offence but he cannot be named due to his age. This is so wrong. He was arrested for a serious crime and should be named. Do the crime, do the time and be treated and sentenced as an adult. The UK’S judiciary system is so outdated and needs updating and soon. These kids listen to rap music which glorifies gangs, drugs and violence. Should be banned. Young minds are easily corrupted.
Anyone who uses a knife in the course of a crime should be automatically jailed for a minimum of 5 years with no remission and the punishment for the actual crime should be added to that as a consecutive sentence and not a concurrent one
