Ventnor Carnival is to parade into town tomorrow evening (Wednesday) in what is set to be the carnival’s 135th year. The procession is set to move off from Pier Street at around 19:00 before heading along High Street, Victoria Street, Albert Street, Pier Street, Church Street, Alpine Road and Park Avenue. Pre-event judging will take place at Dudley Road Car Park at 18:00. Large crowds are expected to gather in the South Wight town to watch the procession and then the ‘grand firework display’ that is set to take place on Ventnor seafront afterward. A carnival has graced the streets of Ventnor in every one of the past 135 years – apart from the 2 years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Children’s Carnival will set off at 12:00 with Ventnor Illuminated Carnival to take place at 21:00 this Saturday (17th August).
