Cowes Sports Reserves lost 2-3 to league leaders Shanklin at Westwood Park on Saturday afternoon despite playing against 10 men for an hour.
Shanklin raced to a 3-goal lead against Cowes Sports Reserves through a hat trick by prolific striker Nick Vyse in the 1st half-an-hour of the game. Things went from bad to worse for the Yachtsmen when Adam Voller was forced to leave the pitch and then be transported to hospital with an ankle injury.
Shanklin then made things difficult for themselves when Brad Young was sent off by referee Ian Smith for appearing to head-butt an opponent. The Yachtsmen then pulled a goal back through substitute Josh Neale to trail Shanklin 1-3 at half time.
After the interval, Dan Pearson pulled a further goal back for the home side. However, the 10 men of Shanklin held out for the remainder of the half to bag all 3 points.
