FastCat sailings between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde have resumed from the North End berth today (Monday), following essential maintenance works that temporarily shifted operations to the South End berth.
The first sailing from the reinstated berth departed at 12:15, marking the end of several weeks of altered boarding and disembarkation arrangements.
Resuming services from the North End berth improves boarding access and shortens crossing times. Importantly, it also restores full access for passengers using wheelchairs, pushchairs, prams, and bicycles. Onboard toilet facilities, which were previously unavailable during the works, have also now reopened.
Wightlink has confirmed that the change has come sooner than expected, thanks to a successful interim solution delivered by their internal teams with support from contractors. While this marks a return to normal operations, wider maintenance and repair works will continue in the background, with full completion targeted for April 2026.
Wightlink has said:
“We know this has been a difficult period for our customers and thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated this issue.
“A huge thank you also to our Wightlink teams, supported by contractors, who worked tirelessly to reach this solution for our customers, enabling an earlier return to the main berth.”
During periods of severe winter weather – particularly strong westerly winds – services may need to temporarily revert to the South End berth. Wightlink says this is expected to be rare and that advance notice will be provided through usual communication channels.
