Prolific thief Warren Russell has once again been ordered to pay compensation after he admitted stealing various items including washing powder and a milkshake from shops in Ryde and Newport. Appearing before Magistrates on Friday 1st December, Russell, 40, of Barton Road in Newport admitted 2x theft from a shop. On the 28th November Russell entered Sainsbury’s on Union Street in Ryde and stole food items and washing powder to the value of £8.60. Then, just a day later on 29th November, Russell entered B&M on Newport High Street and stole a vape and a milkshake to the value of £6.29 Russell has appeared on Island Echo numerous times throughout his criminal career. Most recently, he was handed a 20-week sentence back in February having admitted theft of £60 worth of goods from Poundland in Ryde and £118.50 of alcohol from Co-op on January 30th as well as theft of £32.25 worth of goods from Poundland on 2nd February. Magistrates ordered that Russell pay compensation of £14.89.
