A warrant has been issued for the arrest of notorious criminal Joseph Baker who was allegedly caught back behind the wheel just 6-months after being sentenced to 2 years in prison for disqualified driving.
28-year-old Baker, also known as Joseph Barrass, of Union Road in Ryde, was due to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday charged with driving whilst disqualified and driving without third-party insurance, however, he failed to show with a warrant issued for his arrest as a result.
It is alleged that on 27th March this year, Baker was driving a vehicle along the B3157 between Bridport and Weymouth whilst disqualified from driving. It is also alleged that he didn’t have correct third-party car insurance.
Despite Police claiming back in October that this jail term would provide protection for the public, the 28-year-old was freed from prison after less than 6 months inside.
The reason for his most recent imprisonment was once again due to driving whilst disqualified in July 2021.
Barrass has become notorious for leading Police on high-speed pursuits and defying the courts. Having been born without a lower left arm, Baker’s driving offences are said to have begun as a way of proving he can do what an able-bodied person can. He has even been featured in the national press for his crimes.
The serial offender has racked up almost 50 offences since arriving on the Isle of Wight – the majority of which are motor related.
Some of Baker’s previous offences include driving for over 1 mile with a missing wheel before dumping a car in Ashey back in 2019. He has also served numerous driving bans and disqualifications following pursuits with Police.

Obviously another t**t that thinks his actions are armless
Look out everyone the one arm bandit is on the loose! If you see this weirdo Grass him up!I would!Stay says people Glenn aka The Weatherman
Well it’s about time this bloke gets locked away for a very long time. If he is as wreckless as this story portrays, he needs taking off the roads and doing time without early release. It might make him start to think about changing his ways?!?!?!?!
The police are doing their best but every time they catch him he manages to slip his cuffs and leg it.
Fault lies with our lax judiciary.
Given 2 years, out in 6 months……
It is time these pathetic joke sentences are abolished, criminals should be made to serve the full term of their sentences, no more concurrent sentences but consecutive ones where they serve the appropriate times for each criminal act and no possibility of parole.
Given the way the young are getting out of control we need borstals bringing back and both they and prisons should be harsh enough that people would think twice before committing crimes, privleges such as visiting should all be stopped which would incidentally go a long way to stopping the flow of drugs etc into the prisons.
Not a harmless criminal, just armless
Born without a lower arm or a brain cell, worthless creature.
Not a proper criminal. Gotta make money to be real.
Well if they keep giving him light sentences that go in one hand and out the other you got to hand it to him.
What has him having no lower arm got to do with his driving? Stupid idiot!
Baker’s driving offences are said to have begun as a way of proving he can do what an able-bodied person can.
question is…can he change gear and steer the car at the same time – bet not. – meaning he cannot drive a manual and has to stick with autos – meaning he cannot do what able bodied people can do
