An Isle of Wight group which aims to make a positive impact on the Island’s landscapes is appealing for volunteers to take part in its latest project.
Clean the Wight – which hopes to reduce the waste on our shores and in our waters through unity and action – has hosted several beach cleans across the Isle of Wight, with its members having so far visited beaches including Yaverland and Compton.
The online group, which has now amassed over 500 members on Facebook, has announced that its next beach clean will take place this Sunday (23rd May) at St Catherine’s Point and Watershoot Bay.
Volunteers and those wishing to take part are asked to meet at The Buddle Inn car park at 11:00, where bin bags and litter picking sticks will be available for free to use.
Previous cleans have seen cigarette butts, surgical masks, crisp packets, and even micro-plastics recovered from the shoreline.
