Ventnor residents are being encouraged to take part in a special transport consultation event next week as the Isle of Wight Council continues to shape its new 15-year Local Transport Plan.
A public drop-in session will take place at Salisbury Gardens, Ventnor, on Tuesday 4th November between 11:00 and 14:00, giving residents and businesses the opportunity to speak directly with Isle of Wight Council transport officers.
Karl Hunter, Ventnor Town Councillor, has said it is vital that the local community takes part in the consultation:
“The town has significant transport issues, with a number of roads closed, and we need long term transport solutions. This is an opportunity for residents and businesses in the town to make their voices heard – they can attend and talk to Isle of Wight Council transport officers on a 1-1 basis.
“We need to look at alternative public transport ideas, as well as how we deal with long term threats to Leeson Road and The Graben to ensure we don’t have Ventnor cut off from the rest of the Isle of Wight.”
The consultation forms part of the Isle of Wight Council’s efforts to develop a long-term transport strategy addressing connectivity, sustainability, and resilience across the Island.
Following the event, residents can continue to share their views online via the Isle of Wight Council’s Island Transport Plan webpage at www.iow.gov.uk/transport-and-parking/transport/transport-policy/consultations-on-island-transport.

they need 10 mph speed limits and speed bumps every 5 meters. The speeding motorists are causing excess vibrations with land slips as the result
Funnily enough, Ventnor unlike most of the
island doesn’t have a speeding issue.
Your recommendations are a great idea for the
rest of the Island.
Ventnor actually needs more money spent making sure
that roads are kept open at all times, therefore NOT
bringing Ventnor into a no go zone because vehicles
cannot get to Ventnor.
