Ventnor Tennis Club’s Mens team took on Chichester Mens in the Portsmouth and District LTA Mens Doubles Division 1 on Sunday (9th March).
Elliot Jones and Hugh Idle – as first pair – beat Chichester’s second pair in 3 sets… 6-7, 6-2 and 1-0.
Ventnor’s second pairing of Elliott Rugg and Toby Trotman lost against Chichester’s first pair – 6-4, 6-2.
1-1 after the first round matches.
Thr second round matches saw Elliot and Hugh win in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to Chichester’s first pair.
Elliott and Toby playing the second pair had a bit of a nail biter but came through with a win in 3 sets – 2-6, 7-6, 1-0.
Ventnor have a young team of players who regularly hold their own against much larger Portsmouth-based clubs.
There is just one more fixture to play in the Winter season, which will be against Warsash next Sunday. A win means Ventnor Mens may top Division 1…
