22-year-old Bailey Smith is to be sentenced at the Crown Court after pleading guilty to a ‘prolonged attack’ in which he kicked another man in the head some 7 times.
The Isle of Wight Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday that Smith, formally of Lowtherville Road in Ventnor, had violently assaulted a friend whilst on a night out in Ventnor on 14th March this year.
He appeared in court charged with wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, 2 counts of criminal damage, assault by beating and using threatening/abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Ann Smout, prosecuting, explained that Smith and 2 friends were enjoying a night out when he became aggressive, leading to his friends – 1 of which is a former partner – leaving. However, Smith followed the pair.
Whilst outside Ventnor Post Office in the High Street, Bailey swung a plastic bag containing an unknown object(s) which smashed the window to the shop.
A short time later Smith pushed a Miss X into the road. He then proceeded to punch a Mr X in the face sending him to the floor. The male victim was then kicked in the head up to 7 times, losing a front tooth as a result.
The court also heard that whilst on bail Smith caused criminal damage to Miss X’s front door on 3rd April. This led to him being remanded.
Amy Hosell, defending, said her client – who suffers from ADHD and Aspergers – is not totally clear of the events of the night as he was drunk.
Magistrates decided the matter, described as a prolonged attack, was to be sent to the Crown Court for sentencing on 12th May. Smith was remanded in custody.
Amy Hosell, defending, said her client – who suffers from ADHD and Aspergers – is not totally clear of the events of the night as he was drunk.
…….
Yeah right…this lame excuse is an attempt at diverting attention and done in the hope of getting a lighter sentence.
This low life needs locking up and as for referring to the other two people as his “friends” ..it couldn’t be further from the truth – you do not treat friends like that.
How right you are. Mental health issues is the “get out of jail free” card now, these low lives use it to their advantage and the woke judges go along with it.
It wasn’t me that done it it was my ADHD and Aspergers
The trouble is that some guy in a wig is probably going to take the ADHD and Aspergers into account and a guy well known for his activities will probably get a shorter sentence than he deserves. Almost every criminal around the Island seems to get a lenient sentence for using violence against others, surely it is time for our judiciary to start protecting the populace and not the perpetrators.
Because the UK prisons now have to house the world’s low life not just our own courts will never again give fitting sentences.
As more arrive daily then it will grow ever worse. God help your children
What ‘ world’s ‘ low life are in our prisons ?, more arrive daily ? What English in our IOW prisons ?. Agree with Davimel though.
Kicked friend in the head 7 times? Who the bloody hell needs enemies when you’ve got friends like him?
Always an excuse for the low life behavior now, if he had things like this wrong with him, he was a danger, as has been proved, to the public, and should not have been allowed to walk free on the streets, as being a threat to them. He can’t remember it happening, so even a bigger threat.
Oh yes, and of course, drunk on his free handouts when working people can’t afford to put their heating on or eat properly
True! Don’t forget the tax payers also pay for the bar to be stocked at parliament…so everyones having free drinks on us. From the streets to the halls of power.
with friends like that who needs enemy’s!
Kicks to the head is an act that has high probability to cause someone life changing injures, yet the judges fail to deliver the 3 years imprisonment they are empowered with for ABH. Wake up and put a stop to this by tough sentencing for those who commit this horrific act on another!
Not a very nice person at all. Pure evil I’d say.
If this dumb ass treats his friends this way, what would he do to someone who is not his friend? I dread to think!
He shouldn’t drink if it activates his ADHD and Aspergers, what a load of tripe, and you don’t treat friends by kicking them in the head SEVEN times. He is guilty and deserves any penalty imposed that will keep him off the streets for a long time. He needs to grow up 22 years old more like 2.
I wonder where on the mainland he comes from.We seem to keep getting all these wasters and dropouts sent over here.
It’s been happening for years, who do you think all the new houses are for. They are not for the likes of us, they are for low life over spill from the mainland. Won’t be long before it is called the isle of Shite, if it isn’t already. This low life is every where you go now, every town, every street and if it isn’t them it’s their feral brats. Call the police to report them and they tell you to fill in an on line form. By not reacting in the proper manner to a reported crime , they are encouraging them to keep doing it. So much for more police safer streets B/S so our council tax can be put up yet again.Seems they can’t be asked doesn’t it?
The IOW Council shouldn’t take them, islanders don’t want the likes of this scum here. I know they get paid to take them from the mainland councils.
THE IOW DOESN’T WANT ANYMORE SO STOP
Not actually true about the housing
No doubt has always been problematic & has always been the sort to start the trouble & run before any blame or retaliation can head his way. Gutless scaredy-cat. Clearly alcohol & drugs have made him think he’s a tough guy now. If he can put find the effort to to attack windows & people, maybe he could put in some effort to working instead if of becoming another drain on society!
I always thought Ventnor was a nice place where nothing much happened, or are those days long gone? Rightly or wrongly I have a perception that Ventnor has become a rather undesirable place to live nowadays.
What’s happened there? Has there been an influx of people from dodgy areas on the mainland, or is it another reason, or have I got a misconception of Ventnor these days?
