A Ventnor man who committed shoplifting offence just 8 days after being handed a suspended sentence order, is to be sentenced next month.
Benjamin Gothard-Smith, 42, of Mitchell Avenue in Ventnor, admitted 3x theft from a shop when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Friday 8th November).
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell, told the court that on the 14th September Gothard-Smith entered Tesco Extra in Ryde and stole a Ninja Airfryer worth £200.
Then on the 27th September, Gothard-Smith stole 3x Bluray DVD’s worth £37 from Asda. Just 3 days later – again in Tesco Extra in Ryde – Gothard-Smith stole an electric toothbrush and perfume worth £212.
By committing these offences, Gothard-Smith was in breach of a Crown Court Suspended Sentence order that was imposed on the 6th September, just 8 days before the first offence.
Magistrates adjourned the case and sent all matters to the Isle of Wight Crown Court where Gothard-Smith will appear on the 13th December.
Not very stealth-like ‘Ninja’ style, thieving an Air frier. At least his Mum appreciated the perfume.
