UPDATED: A female driver has escaped serious injury overnight after the car she was driving rolled onto its roof in Cowes, damaging two parked vehicles.
Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to Park Road, Cowes alongside Police and Ambulance crews shortly before 02:00, where it was discovered the black Vauxhall Corsa was on its roof and had collided with a small white van and a red car, which were both parked at the side of the road.
Witnesses have told Island Echo that they believe speed was a factor, causing the driver to lose control and flipping the vehicle onto its roof near to Brooklands Road.
Residents in nearby properties were awoken by the incident before rushing outside to offer assistance. Amazingly, no one has been serious injured in the incident. The driver was taken to hospital with a minor injury.
The road was closed for a period of time to allow the vehicles to be recovered, however has since reopened.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY: Police have this week confirmed they are investigating Sunday’s incident, however no arrests have been made to date.
A 20-year-old female is said to have been behind the wheel of the Black Vauxhall Corsa.
