Following the Christmas and New Year break there has been a surge in demand for healthcare services today (Friday), leading the Island’s NHS Trust to make an urgent call for nurses, care assistants and OTs to work this weekend.
Due to the high levels of demand the Trust is calling on all registered nurses, health care assistants (HCAs) and occupational therapists (OTs) to contact the Trust if they would be willing to work any additional hours over this weekend.
Trust On Call Executive Director Mark Price said:
“We have been hit by unexpected demand today. We have additional beds we can open if they can be staffed. We’re asking any nursing, healthcare assistant or occupational therapists who are able to work extra hours this weekend to contact the Trust.”
Staff able to work additional hours this weekend should call the Trust’s switchboard and ask to speak to the Bed Manager. Staff will be paid at their normal rate of pay plus enhancements.
