A busy road through Haylands in Ryde has been closed this morning (Monday) to allow for emergency gas works to be undertaken.
Upton Road has been shut to all traffic for a distance of 212 metres between the junctions of Corbett Road and Bettesworth Road.
According to Island Roads, the closure is to allow Southern Gas Networks (SGN) to carryout urgent essential works to a newly replaced main.
Advanced warning signs have been put out alerting motorists to the fact that the road will be closed for up to 3 weeks – the latest in a series of disruptive road closures for motorists trying to travel from Ryde to Newport.
