Firefighters from Ryde have this afternoon (Wednesday) made safe a building in the town using an aerial appliance.
Union Street was temporarily blocked whilst firefighters used an aerial ladder appliance to remove loose brickwork from the top of one of the historic buildings.
It was feared the objects could fall from a height and land on the pavement below, potentially injuring members of the public.
The building has now been made safe and the road has fully reopened.
