The easing of pandemic restrictions is being celebrated in style by local groups of the u3a whose motto is ‘learn, laugh and live’.
Blue and yellow pompoms will feature large on 2nd June as Isle of Wight u3a members prepare to celebrate being alive on this wonderful island.
Usually meeting face to face to expand interests, learn something new, and to socialise, members have been keeping in touch by learning to meet on Zoom, chat on Facebook, and, on the Island, meeting outside in groups of six whenever restrictions have allowed.
Members of the organisation have visited gardens and gone on beach walks and also had monthly speaker meetings, and various interest groups meeting on Zoom throughout the last year – but with the suspension of restrictions in sight, members are taking the opportunity of the organisation’s first u3aday to shout about what it offers in any way they can.
On June 2nd u3a members will collectively walk the coastal path and mark the path with blue and yellow pompoms, and in central Newport. There will also be a picnic and an information point where interested parties can find out more.
Look for the bright yellow gazebo, covered in pompoms. U3a will also have a cocktail party on zoom in the evening, cocktail gowns optional – check out our website www.u3awight.uk for more details.

Am I the only one who has no idea whatsoever what ‘u3a’ is ????
