A Learning Support Assistant from Cowes, who has denied grooming a teenage pupil, will stand trial next October.
Melanie Rock, 33, of Arctic Road, appeared before Judge Sawyer at Portsmouth Crown Court earlier today (Thursday) accused of serious matters relating to her employment at an Isle of Wight educational establishment.
At the hearing, the 33-year-old denied adult abuse of position of trust – sexual activity with a boy and meeting a boy under 16 years of age following grooming.
It is claimed that the school staff member struck up a relationship with the teenager in October 2023 then continued both online and in-person contact outside of the school environment. This led to an alleged incident of sexual touching at Miss Rock’s home address.
The situation was brought to the attention of safeguarding authorities when Miss Rock was spotted with the boy.
A trial was listed for the 5th October 2026, Rock has been given unconditional bail until that time.
