A Derbyshire man who assaulted a male whilst on holiday at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park earlier this year has admitted his guilt in court. Christopher Grayson, 38, of High Peak in Derbyshire, admitted assault by beating when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday 19th December. The court heard from prosecutor Liz Miller that on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August, Grayson became involved in a physical altercation at the entrance to the Bembridge park’s clubhouse. A drunken Grayson grabbed the face of the individual, telling him ‘do you want to fight me’ as he tried to move away. When challenged by security staff at the holiday park, Grayson said he was ‘just trying to toughen him up’. The pair were separated until Police arrived at which point Grayson was taken to Newport Police Station where he spent the night in custody. CCTV footage from the incident – shown in courtroom – showed Grayson committing the offence. Redmond Traynor, defending Grayson, said that his client had never been before the courts and that the current bail conditions imposed on him were causing trouble in his personal life. The case adjourned to allow an all-options pre-sentence report to be compiled. Grayson will next appear at Stockport Magistrates Court on 12th January 2024.
