Lake Parish Council say they are counting the cost of vandalism and graffiti at the New Road public toilets, with extensive damage caused to the accessible toilet and door mechanisms.
The criminal damage comes following a string of anti-social behaviour incidents at the site, including a recent drug overdose, which required the attendance of emergency services.
Lake Parish Council Chairman, Councillor Paul Brading, has said:
“This wanton criminal behaviour impacts on disabled users of these facilities, as well as costs Lake residents and takes time to put right – we will continue to work with the Police to identify those responsible and hold them to account.”
The Parish Council is urging anyone with information about those responsible to come forward as investigations continue.
The island would be much better off with toilet blocks like the
one used to be in Shanklin (Falcon Cross) with an attendant on site.
I am anti paying to use toilets being we pay one of the most
extortionate council tax charges in the country, but I didn’t mind
paying 20p back in the day knowing the toilets were clean and safe
from numpties.
Give people a job and bring back toilet blocks with attendants on
site.
50p charges will not only cover the wages for the attendant it will
pay for materials etc (loo paper etc)
Also install decent CCTV, sadly the island is not the safe place it
used to be.
Wheres the CCTV on the outside? lit up at night this wouldn’t happen? more low life trash scum breed on the island.

The island needs CCTV islandwide.
This is what you get when the do gooders are being allowed to keep on protecting the feral brats and chavs from being tagged and curfew-ed.
Or a council who won’t cough up for CCTV or pay people to watch it as they used to on The Island CCTV monitored is a proven deterrent even our own thick flock of Councillors can’t fail to see that…….can they?.
On the eye for an eye principle the culprits ought be disabled themselves. Unbelievably the church going do gooders have over ruled god. In a few years come the revolution and the Muslims rule I expect vandalism to almost disappear, possibly along with the vandals themselves.
There are loads of chavs over here I was verbally abused at the bus stop yesterday disgusting behaviour from a young lad I’m not surprised there’s some real scum over here , vandalising toilets is ridiculous
