A 3-year partnership between Ryde Town Council and the University of Portsmouth has delivered a fresh vision for Ryde Marina, with the latest student-led consultancy project offering strategic ideas to boost visitor numbers and shape future development.
The collaboration, part of the University’s Business Consultancy Partnership (BCP) scheme, has seen students deliver independent, research-driven recommendations that support evidence-based decision-making for the town.
This year’s team, Marina Works Consultancy, presented their findings to Ryde Town Councillors last week. Their research was praised for combining analytical depth with strategic insight, offering a balance of practical, short-term solutions and more ambitious, long-term opportunities for Ryde Marina.
Ryde Town Mayor, Diana Conyers, said:
“I was very impressed by the students’ innovative ideas and thorough research. This gives us a clear direction for the future and I will be excited to see their recommendations put into action.”
The BCP scheme has proven a valuable resource over the past 3 years, offering an external perspective that challenges local assumptions and encourages forward-thinking planning.

Maybe these youngsters should be in charge of Ryde Marina instead of the bunch of tea leaves there at present.
