Three pumping appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have attended a fire at a property in Ryde this evening (Tuesday).
Two retained crews from Ryde and a crew from Newport were dispatched to the scene in Cross Street shortly before 22:00 to reports of a property on fire.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to tackle the blaze, believed to be located inside a flat above Cross Street Dental Practice.
Police have closed the road, with traffic being diverted via George Street and Star Street.
The blaze has been brought under control and two fire crews have already left the scene.
UPDATE @: 22:50 – Cross Street has now reopened and fire crews have left the scene.
