UPDATED: Emergency services including the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are this morning (Saturday) attending a reported three car road traffic collision outside St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the scene on Parkhurst Road shortly after 09:00.
UPDATE @ 09:30 – The collision is said to have involved a Mercedes car and a red Fiat Punto, which has suffered damage to the front end. It was initially reported to Island Echo that three vehicles were involved with it being unclear if the tractor pictured has been involved in the collision.
The incident has taken place southbound with traffic being diverted through the hospital grounds onto Dodnor Industrial Estate to rejoin Medina Way.
Firefighters from Newport Fire Station have made one vehicle safe after began to smoke. No one is reported to be trapped.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, however the scene is being cleared.
UPDATE @ 10:02 – It has now been confirmed that the tractor pictured was not involved in the collision, however had broken down in the same location as the collision.
The incident has been cleared.
