Artist, designer, and maker David Jones is set to unveil a life-sized sculpture of the legendary ‘Sam of All Colours,’ the enigmatic Sandown Clown.
The Sandown Clown, a local legend, was originally encountered by 2 children on the Isle of Wight one afternoon in May 1973.
Captivated by their account of this extraordinary humanoid figure, David has meticulously recreated ‘Sam of All Colours’ based on their description.
David Jones, who is known for his keen interest in the unexplained, paranormal and extra-terrestrial, has poured his passion for mystery and folklore into
this project.
His fascination with the story of ‘The Sandown Clown’ has driven him to bring this extraordinary figure to life with accuracy and authenticity. David is bringing the sculpture of ‘Sam of All Colours’ to the Isle of Wight on the weekend of 14th/15th September at Sandown Airport.
David invites the Isle of Wight community and all those fascinated by the unexplained and folk tradition to be part of this unique artwork’s siting and unveiling at Sandown Airport.
While not directly part of David’s method, some artists working in sculpture and character design use traditional tools such as specialist lino cutting tools and carving equipment to refine detail and texture in their preparatory work or mixed media practice.
Always been interested in this story, quite a few videos on Youtube relating to this, very ET..
