A teenager charged with 6 counts of theft, including stealing a hot dog from a shop in Ryde, has been handed a 6-month Youth Referral Order.
The 14-year-old from Sandown, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was charged on 13th November with 6 counts of theft from a shop, relating to £303.50 worth of alcohol and a hotdog stolen between 31st October and 10th November from Co-op on Anglesea Street.
This follows an investigation conducted by Ryde Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Appearing at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday 21st December, the boy admitted all of the offences and was handed a 6-month Youth Referral Order. This will require him to attend regular meetings with a Youth Offender Panel, and his parent/guardian must attend with him.
Compensation of £152.25 was also awarded to the shop, which will be paid by the boy’s parent or guardian.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a 13-year-old boy from Ryde was also due to appear at the same time alongside a 16-year-old from the same town charged with offences committed at the same time all together.
The 13-year-old has been remanded on conditional bail to appear at Youth Court on 1st February, whilst the 16-year-old will appear before the courts on 4th January.
