A 2nd teenager has been sentenced in connection with a series of incidents in Ryde.
The Ryde Neighbourhoods Policing Team investigated a number of incidents that occurred between September and December 2022, and charged 3 individuals as a result.
A 16-year-old boy from Ryde appeared at the Isle of Wight Youth Court on Wednesday (18th January) for sentencing, having pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.
The burglary occurred on 25th September in WHSmith on Ryde High Street. The teen entered the store and stole £147 worth of E-cigarettes from behind the till area.
On 5th October, the boy stole £32 worth of alcohol from Anglesea Street Co-op.
At the sentencing hearing, he was handed a 10-month Referral Order and ordered to pay £89.39 compensation to the businesses. The RO will require him to attend regular meetings with a Youth Offender Panel, and his parent/guardian must attend with him.
This follows the sentencing of a 14-year-old boy from Sandown who was handed a 6-month RO on 21st December 2022, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The boy had pleaded guilty to 6 counts of theft from a shop, relating to £303.50 worth of alcohol and a hotdog stolen between 31st October and 10th November from Co-op on Anglesea Street. Compensation of £152.25p was also awarded to the shop as part of the sentence.
A 13-year-old boy who was charged with offences as part of this investigation is due to appear at the Youth Court on 1st February.

So the shops these feral scum rob only get a fraction of the value of the stolen goods paid back, that seems utterly unfair especially the parents will have to pay it no doubt from their benefits or child allowances, never mind in another couple of months the parasites will get another windfall from the taxpayers.
Ship them off to Rwanda with their parents. Any assets should be sold, and monies are given to businesses impacted by these chavs.
You’re comments are poisonous and reductive. This is only the beginning, things like his will be a regular occurrence and it’s all thanks to the generation behind comments like that. You aren’t intellectually capable of talking about these taboo subjects so you’re comments are a product of fear, we need to talk these things out as if there part of our culture instead of you’re violent outbreak of dictatorship. If you wish to hammer out things on the anvil of vigorous controversy then I’m your man, but these are just kids man, they will not understand until they make the mistake
