Police are investigating after a man approached a teenage boy whilst he was on his way to school yesterday morning (Wednesday), asking the youngster if he was lonely and wanted to buy some sweets. The incident occurred at around 08:15 in the vicinity of Jellicoe Road and Broadway Crescent in Binstead. Island Echo understands that when the 15-year-old was approached, the older male asked the teen if he was lonely and suggested they go to the nearby shop and get some sweets. Officers are now going to be patrolling the area as a result of the suspicious incident. A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and whether any offences were committed. “Anyone with any concerns can speak to one of our uniformed officers.”
