A 24-year-old Ventnor man, suspected of being involved in supplying Class A drugs, has been arrested after Police swooped on a vehicle in Newport late last night (Thursday).
At around 22:25, officers conducted a proactive search of 2 people and a VW Scirocco after a man was seen acting suspiciously in the Medina Avenue Car Park.
Witnesses say that multiple Police cars descended on the area, blocking both the entrance and exit to the long stay car park.
It has been confirmed that a 24-year-old woman from Ryde and a 24-year-old man from Ventnor were detained for the search and the man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.
He remains in custody at Newport Police Station at this time.
A quantity of suspected Class A drugs have been seized and will be sent away for analysis.
