Wightlink-sponsored Ryde Rowing Club celebrated another successful season at a special awards presentation evening at their clubhouse on Saturday (11th December).
Club Captain Graham Reeve welcomed around 40 members and guests and thanked them for attending, as well as for their support over the last year. Special thanks went to the club’s main sponsor, Wightlink.
The annual club awards were presented by Joel Smith and Paddy Kearney following a presentation on 2021’s achievements, which included the Hants & Dorset Junior Coastals Sculls Championship; runners up for the Hants & Dorset ARA Men’s Senior Fours; Junior Pairs and Single Sculls and a win in the Open Junior Senior Fours at the South Coast Championship Regatta.
The Coxswain’s Cup was awarded to Camon Adams, the First Year Oarsman Trophy was awarded to Bradley Whiting and the First Years Ladies Trophy to Stella Baisley. Joel Smith received the Oarsman of the year award and Emily Faithfull was awarded the Oars lady of the year award.
The Coaches Cup was awarded by the club’s Joint Rowing Captain Joel Smith to Paddy Kearney and the Committee Cup to Niamh Murphy. The Captains Cup, awarded by Club Captain Graham Reeve, was presented to Beth Walpole.
Finally, the traditional ‘First Hants & Dorset ARA win’ Club spoons – a tradition that goes back more than 70 years – were awarded to Ben Sanderson, Emily Faithfull, Beth Walpole, Julie Clark, Stella Baisley and Emma Nichols. T
