Police are on scene at a 2-car crash on the diversion route into Cowes this evening (Monday), with speed suspected to be behind the incident.
The crash has occurred on Rolls Hill, between Thorness and Northwood, and has involved a red VW Polo GTI and a black Audi A3.
Island Echo is told that it was at around 20:00 that a vehicle – the Audi – came up quickly behind a motorcycle and car travelling at the revised temporary speed of 30mph.
It is claimed the A3 collided into the rear of the Polo, with both cars ending up in the hedge on the opposite side of the road.
Thankfully, the incident avoided any oncoming traffic and the motorcyclist in front.
Rolls Hill remains open with no travel delays.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
Personally I am fed up with all the speeding that takes
place on the island.
The recent Take Out car event encourages speeding.
It’s about time the Island authorities put measures in
place to STOP speeding, you cannot rely on motorists
to respect Law and Order.
How long before someone gets killed.
Tailgating , as seen here. Sick of being bullied when I’m actually doing the right speed. ( Had to be a black Audi, eh.)
Probably rushing to do a deal.
Time to Ban Audi’s from Island Roads, just
look at the majority of Audi drivers and you
have your answer.
I have never seen a decent Audi driver.
all part of the wonderful diversion we all have to put up with the wonderful new estate bottom of hourseshit hill..oh and have you all seen months of waterworks coming January to supply and take away waste water ..brilliant.
Wait until they start building the rabbit hutches in
Ryde, years of disruption ahead.
That’s my trips to Tesco coming to an end, online
deliveries will be the answer.
Seaview may only be around the corner from Tesco
but it will be a nightmare getting there.
The island infrastructure is crap.
This weekend has been absolute hell with these
Just a load of hooligans / wanna be Lewis Hamilton
Time for them to grow up and respect the law.
Personally I blame the organisers of the event.
IW Council should never let such events take place
the island is home to many elderly persons who
don’t want lawless vehicles speeding and making
loud noises.
Boy racers this weekend complete Troglodytes who think they are on a racetrack something needs to be done about it ! Maybe more Police presence for starters. These Boy racers are despicable & a certain breed !
Here Here, the island knew this event was happening
there should have been more speed Camera’s etc
in place.
Whatever happened about Zet Zero!
Just a joke, events like this being allowed to take
place – Net Zero will never happen on the
Isle of Wight!!
I wonder if this is the same idiot that drives up Cockleton lane at 70 MPH. The same idiot that neatly put me in a hedge.
There needs to be more traffic law.
I keep saying rollout islandwide parking permits to pay
for the extra Police needed to patrol the Roads.
