Shanklin teenager Jess Burfitt has once again been selected to represent England as a solo dancer at the Dance World Cup, set to take place in Burgos, Spain next month.
13-year-old Jess, who has trained at MLD Studio in Ryde since the age of 2, was chosen from hundreds of applicants to perform as a soloist in the commercial category – a major achievement at international level.
This marks the second consecutive year that Jess will perform on the world stage. In 2024, she travelled to the Dance World Cup in Prague to compete with a contemporary routine, proudly representing Team England.
Over the past year, Jess has continued to excel in regional and national competitions, consistently earning top results and securing places in several national finals.
The youngster is sponsored by Red Funnel as an Island Ambassador, and by local firm Lock Fit Isle of Wight.
Jess has said:
“I am so proud to be representing England in the Dance World Cup for the second year in a row.
“I am so grateful for all of the support from my dance teacher Michelle Davis, my parents and sponsors who have made this possible for me.”
