A local businessman facing historic rape allegations dating back to when he was aged between 12 and 17 is to appear in court this morning (Tuesday).
Joe Collins, 36, of Atherley Road in Shanklin will appear before Magistrates today charged with 1 count of rape of a male under 16.
The offences are said to have occurred on the Isle of Wight between 1998 and 2003.
The matters are so serious the case is expected to be sent up to the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
UPDATE @ 12:20 – The case has been sent up to the Crown Court, with a plea and trial preparation hearing to be held on 13th March.
Collins is on bail until that time.
