Two pumping appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are currently on the scene near to the railway bridge where two vehicles – a white Citroen and a blue Land Rover – have collided.
The incident occurred just after 08:30, as first reported by Island Echo.
Police and ambulance crews are also on the scene including an ambulance officer.
UPDATE @ 09:40 – One female has been cut free from the wreckage of her vehicle by firefighters and transferred into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The casualty is not believed to be suffering from any life-threatening injuries.
UPDATE @ 13:00 – The freed woman, who has been treated at St Mary’s Hospital, is due to be discharged this afternoon.
The incident has been cleared and the road has reopened.
