SEA SEARCH AFTER ITEMS FOUND


ventnorsearchPolice and Coastguard rescue teams are this morning (Sunday) conducting a land and sea search in Ventnor.

Emergency services were called at around 09:30 after a pair of shoes, a towel and an inflatable were found unattended on the beach, sparking concerns that a child has gone missing.

Coastguard Rescue 104 has been called in to assist the search and is currently conducting a sweep of the coastline between Shanklin and St Lawrence.

UPDATE @ 11:45 – Coastguard Rescue 104 has left the scene, returning to base at Lee-on-Solent.

Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the search was conducted as a precautionary measure following the discovery of the clothing items.
