A Sandown woman who ploughed into a stationary motorcycle, having failed to apply the brakes to her car, has been handed a 12-month driving ban. Lauren Beaumont, of St John’s Road, appeared before magistrates on Friday morning (1st March) charged with causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving on the afternoon of 28th November last year. She pleaded guilty to the offence back in January. The court previously heard that the 42-year-old mum was travelling along Broadway – toward Avenue Road – in her Nissan Note when she collided with the rider of a Honda motorbike. Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were forced to close the road for a time before the rider was taken to St Mary’s Hospital. At a sentencing hearing yesterday, Magistrates heard how the rider of the motorcycle suffered a fractured vertebra as a result of the collision. He has not worked in over 3 months and is in constant pain. His motorcycle has been written off too. Defending, Mr Arnett said that the collision was low-speed and as a result of a momentary lapse of judgement, careless in its nature. Having read a thoroughly constructed pre-sentence report, Magistrates handed Beaumont a 12-month driving ban and a 12-month community order with 25 rehabilitation days attached. She was fined £184 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.

She was probably off her nut on TikTok
She will get her license back before he gets his life back together seems little unfair?
Can someone please enlighten me on what “25 rehabilitation days attached” involves?
Probably quaffing latte’s with the girls and boo hooing about ‘HER’ mental health!
I sincerely hope the motorcyclist recovers, and gets the opportunity to sue the hell out of her.
Drug driver most likely
The driver was 42 years old so the usual comment ( from you know who) about old drivers is not applicable.
A momentary lapse of judgment, what a load of shit! He is now probably going to have pain for the rest of his life! Is she paying his wages and for his bike written off?? Why do the courts not see this is an absolute joke.
All his costs/losses will be paid for by the woman’s insurance, including massive compensation to the bike rider if he can’t go back to work. That will run into 100’s of £k
Is that all she got, should have been jailed
Whats being a mum got to do with it? oh yeah ..getting off lightly with stunning and brave rehab days attached.
She could have killed someone and she gets a paltry fine
Magistrates keep up with real world
She very nearly did kill somebody
What happens to his lost of earnings bike and pain maybe for life who pays for that ???she got nonthing less that £400..pathetic.
If she didn’t hit her brakes, then she didn’t see him, so what was the reason she wasn’t paying attention to the road?
I wonder if they checked her phone history at the time of the accident
taking place to see if she was on her phone at the time.
Very sad news for the motorcyclist
