UPDATED: Ryde Inshore Rescue have launched to assist a vessel in difficulty off Fishbourne this lunchtime (Thursday).
Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat has made speed towards the casualty vessel, which appears to have drifted further West towards Osborne Bay.
The volunteer and independent lifeboat crew were tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at 12:50, hitting the water just 10 minutes later.
UPDATE @ 13:55 – The casualty vessel ‘Goodwyll’ – a motor cruiser – has been towed into Fishbourne by Ryde Rescue 1.
It remains unclear as to what caused the Bembridge-registered boat to call for assistance.
UPDATE @ 14:10 – Ryde Rescue 1 has now been stood down and is returning to station.
The vessel has been met at a pontoon in Fishbourne by members of Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team.
