A man who allegedly stole from his supermarket employer, Morrisons, to the value of nearly £50,000 has seen his case sent to the Crown Court.
David Haynes, 28, of Star Street in Ryde appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier today (Tuesday) charged with theft by employee.
Haynes – who was employed by Morrisons and worked on the till at the Newport store’s petrol station – allegedly stole £46,000 from the national supermarket chain.
It is said that the offences took place between 1st September 2020 and 11th October 2021.
Haynes didn’t enter a plea to the charges put against him as a result of there being a large discrepancy between the value quoted during criminal proceedings and the value quoted during civil proceedings.
The 28-year-old will next appear before the courts at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 20th April.
