One of Ryde Fire Fire Station’s longest-serving members, Kevin Beckett, has retired from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service after 25 years’ service.
FF Beckett began his career with the IWFRS as a retained firefighter in 1996 while working as a motor mechanic. He brought a wealth of knowledge, commitment and practical skills to the station which have been passed on to every firefighter at Ryde ever since.
A big fan of all motorsport, music and motorcycles, his humour, down to earth and logical approach in everything he does will be missed by all at Ryde Fire Station, as well as across the whole Service in general.
Although now retired from the fire service, Kevin – affectionately known as Kevvie B – is taking up a new role as a mechanic at Wight Karting.
FF Beckett retired on Wednesday 31st March 2021.
